Hi everyone! My name is Jhenesis Hines and I am the Writing Team Manager for The Biophilia Effect. I am 16 years old and a junior in high school. I was born in North Carolina, but I currently live in Bethlehem, Georgia. I am so excited to start this new chapter in my life!. I’ve always had a strong affinity to the environment, and that has recently motivated me to spread awareness of climate change. In the future I want to pursue a career as a journalist/movie critic or a screenwriter. Some of my interests include reading, writing, baking, listening to music, and traveling.

Hi everyone! My name is Fay, I’m a 17 year old junior at Gunn High School, Palo Alto. I joined TBE after seeing the horrific changes that are happening to our environment. Living in California, I see the wildfires and increasing temperatures first hand. Even though I have been actively telling my friends and family ways to reduce their impact on the environment in real life, there is no better platform to fo that than TBE! In my free time I like to journal, collect crystals, and listen to Lana Del Rey ^-^!

Hello! My name’s Talia and I’m a junior at Lynbrook High School in the Bay Area. I’ve always felt a deep appreciation for our planet but recently (after learning more about climate change) I’ve been wanting to get more involved. I hope to raise awareness on environmental issues while learning more about Earth’s many characteristics, and what we can do to help sustain them (and ourselves). No one is perfect, but everyone can do something and make a change for the better. In my free time, I like to read, dance, play field hockey (rah!), and watch movies/TV shows with my family.

Hi, my name is Genevieve, and I am a junior from Flagstaff, Arizona! I joined The Biophilia Effect to help raise environmental awareness. In my free time, I enjoy playing chess and basketball, reading, watching movies, going on adventures with my friends, and cuddling with my guinea pigs. I also love writing, and I hope to pursue Journalism in the future. I am currently the social media manager for my local film festival and a member of the board committee at my school focused on fighting racism. I look forward to combining my love for writing with my passion for activism to help build an environmentally aware community.

Hello! I'm Srushti a junior at Lynbrook High School in San Jose. I've always adored how diverse and unique our planet is. There is an immense variety of ecosystems and species living on Earth that all make our planet so beautiful. Helping to preserve this beauty has always been one of my priorities. Especially with the drastic effects of climate change happening, I believe it's important to raise awareness about environmental issues and ways to take action to combat them. I am passionate about actively reducing my carbon footprint and educating myself and others on how to be more eco-friendly.

Derin Ene (he/him) is a student in San Jose, CA. He enjoys swimming competitively, experimenting with his dad’s espresso machine, and creating song mashups. Recent environmental catastrophes have opened his eyes to the importance of taking steps to protect our planet, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands offered him a life-changing perspective on the way our world works, and the dire need to preserve it. These events have inspired him to raise awareness on environmental conservation, and he is very excited to hopefully create a lasting impact through his position in TBE.

Anna Gemmell (she/her) is a student in San Jose, CA. Since she’s been a vegetarian for most of her life, she was inspired to create TBE with her friends and push the narrative of vegetarianism being effective not only to yourself but to end poor slaughterhouse treatment and save the planet. She is so excited to use her creative skills and passion for our planet for good. Anna is passionate about protecting all living beings. She hopes to raise awareness about animal extinction and how it affects climate change and hopefully inspires people as she shares her perspective on vegetarianism.

Hi y'all I'm Audrey and I am 16 years old Junior at Palo Alto High School. I am a social media manager for The Biophilia Effect. Over the past few months I've become increasingly passionate about making small lifestyle changes that are beneficial to keeping the environment clean. I love hiking, biking and going on drives to places where I get to experience the beauty and diversity of nature. I believe that our world is a beautiful, unique and underrated place that everybody should get to see. We are a generation of future leaders and I believe that we can come together and take action against climate change. :)
