Biophilia
The word “biophilia” was first coined by psychoanalyst Erich Fromm in 1979. He used the word (bio-, meaning "life," and -philia, meaning "friendly feeling toward") to describe the biological drive toward self-preservation. Over time, the meaning had changed slightly, and it has since developed into a hypothesis. According to Encyclopedia Briticanna, the biophilia hypothesis is “[the] idea that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life.” This word is what inspired us to create our organization in hopes of connecting more people to nature and our Earth.
